A summer storm produced an amazing 5,000+ lightning strikes an hour put on a show over Shell Point Beach in Wakulla County, Florida south of Tallahassee July 16, 2012.  The majority of the lightning was from cloud to cloud but the National Weather Service in Tallahassee recorded over 5,000 cloud to ground lightning strikes.  ..The image is a multiple time exposure photo shot during the storm.  At it's peak, I was counting 71 to 75 lightning flashes during the 30 second exposures for an amazing 8,880 lightning flashes an hour and totaled 22,200 lightning flashes and strikes over the course of the 2 and a half hour display.   The National Weather Service in Tallahassee recorded over 5,000 lightning strikes (cloud to ground) during the storm.  The rest were cloud to cloud lightning flashes.
